Mothers Day Brunch

Today for my very first Semi Social Saturdays post, what better way to get started than with a celebration for Moms! My great- grandmother, grandmother, and mother are the reasons why I love to cook and bake so much, so celebrating with them in mind is a perfect start to this new series! I decided on a brunch because…. well…. Mothers Day and Brunch go hand in hand. Lets dive right in to the menu:

Food: Crab Quiche, Berry and Walnut Salad, and Fresh Baked Croissants

Drink: May Wine

Decor: Flowers from the garden lining the table

The main dish was a no-brainer because right now our chickens are giving us more eggs than we can eat. I went with a crab quiche because we are Marylanders and well…. “crabcakes and football, thats what Maryland does.” But seriously, our family could have crab anything at anytime. So Crab Quiche it is. One thing to mention about this meal…. use a refrigerated pie crust. In fact, if you are ever making any kind of pie, use a refrigerated pie crust. Save yourself the hassle of making it from scratch. Ok anyway, crab quiche…. its so freaking good.

Next is one of my favorite summer salads that is always perfect for brunch…. Berry and Walnut Salad. I use to work at a restaurant that had a version of this salad on the menu and I ate it almost every shift. Its pretty straightforward and simple… but so good. It has the right about of sweetness to crunch.

Last but not least, head on over to your friendly neighborhood grocery store and pick up some fresh baked croissants from the bakery. They are pillows of fluffy goodness and they go perfectly with this menu.
